Students helping students find their way in Toronto.
SEED Toronto is run by students, for Korean and international university and college students in Toronto. We gather the scholarships, co-op programs, counselling and other support that 13 Ontario schools and the government already offer, and explain how to actually use them.
“SEED helps Korean and international university and college students in Toronto find the opportunities they need, meet people to prepare with, and actually apply and take part.”
Why we started
In university I found out about scholarships, exchange programs, and co-op late, and I didn't know who to ask. While planning events with a Korean student association, I met many students who had the same problem.
The information students need is spread across school websites, government websites, and group chats, so it is hard to tell which opportunities actually apply to you. There are few chances to ask a senior student or someone working in the field, and going to a networking event alone takes a lot of nerve. Many students only start preparing when they urgently need a job, and some international students leave Canada because they can't find one.
The first person to try the SEED website told us the same thing. Links alone weren't enough. What they wanted most was to hear how other students had actually done it. I started SEED because I want other students to go through less trial and error than I did.
